Recumbents

We have a huge selection of recumbent bicycles ready and built for you to find the perfect one. A lot of people don't know what a recumbent is so we included pictures of what we have and can order. There are different styles also, the kind you have probably seen the most often with three wheels, and stranger ones with two wheels.
This is an EZ-3 SX Tadpole made by Sun.

This is an E1 SX Ergonomic Recumbent made by Sun.

Tricycle Recumbents:
These are available in two handlebar styles. One has the handlebars low and to your side, while the other has the handlebars in front of you like in any bicycle.
An example of the handlebars at side.

An example of the handlebars at normal height.

The recumbents with handlebars at side have two wheels in front and one wheel in back. On the tricycle recumbents with handlebars at normal height there are two wheels on the back and one wheel in the front.

Bicycle Recumbents:
Bicycle recumbents have the handlebars at standard level and have gears.
The EZ-Sport CX by Sun.

All recumbents come with multiple gears. There are many reasons to ride a recumbent. The most common reason is for comfort after an injury. If you come into the store we will give advice on how to ride and fit the bike for you.

About LakeShore Bicycles & Fitness

LakeShore Bicycle & Fitness is proud to have been serving Jacksonville since 1961. LakeShore is named for the part of Jacksonville we are located in. Originally the shop sold bicycles, lawnmowers, and included a locksmith. In the mid 1970's the store relocated to it's current location and became one of the original Schwinn Concept Stores. The lawnmowers disappeared.

Accessory Category #8: Jerseys

Jerseys - Jerseys are about more than looking good. They start with a technical fabric that wicks the persperation to the outside layer. As the persperation is evaporated it cools you. In the winter, this wicking keeps you drier and reduces the chance of hypothermia. The jerseys are also cut for your riding position to be more comfortable and have a long tail to cover the gap when you are bent over. We have jerseys for road, mountian and recumbent riders.

3G Bike Cruisers

Our line of 3G Bikes are assembled better than any other beach cruiser dealers in town. Our mechanics safety and comfort check every bicycle they put together rather than having some inexperienced person throw it together.

Accessory Category #6: Lights

Lights - We have a large selection of lights to make you visible or to light up the trail on a moonless night. Florida law requires a front light, a taillight and a rear reflector to ride on the road after sunset. We carry these, as well as reflective tape and vests. Ask about our Knog lights for simple lighting.

Accessory Category #5: Hydration

Hydration - This is important for your health as well as enjoyment while bicycling. We can help with everything from basic waterbottles and cages to backpack hydration systems. We also have Camelbacks for on the go.

Accessory Category #4: Shorts

Shorts - Safety? Well maybe not, but they protect you from discomfort. Bicycling shorts are worn as an additional layer of skin (no underwear). The idea is that they stick to you and the movement will be between the shorts and saddle and chaffing will be prevented. We also recommend a chamois lube for greater comfort.
